Asphyxia Neonatorum Level Differences Based on Birth Weight of Infants in Kediri Regency Hospital 2017
Abstract
Asphyxia is the newborn state that failure to breathe spontaneously immediately after birth which resulted in brain damage or death. Although the infant mortality rate 2015 already meet the targets of the MDGs, but the infant death due to asphyxia neonatorum is still high. Babies with low birth weight and is more of a state is at risk because it has a tendency experienced infection, asphyxia, jaundice and hipoglikemi. The goal of research to figure out the difference in level of asphyxia neonatorum based on birth weight of the baby.
The research was carried out at the Kediri Regency Hospital on 10 to 30 October 2017. The design used is the analytic with a retrospective approach. The population of the study are all infants with asphyxia neonatorum in Kediri Regency Hospital, born on 1 January to 30 June 2017 by as much as 84 babies. Large samples that used 70 respondents. Independent variables namely birth weight infants and the dependent variable is the level of asphyxia neonatorum. Samples taken in simple random sampling with the collecting sheet and instruments drawn from the medical record. Analyze data using statistical tests Mann Whitney U Test.
The results showed that of the 38 respondents who had a normal birth weight, 71.05% of whom experienced moderate asphyxia, while from 32 respondents who have risky birth weight, 75% of whom suffered asphyxiation and 12.5% experiencing heavy asphyxiation. The results of the analysis of the Mann Whitney U Test IBM SPSS 22 asymp sig (2-tailed) obtained as a result of 0.019 0.05, meaning there are < difference levels of asphyxia neonatorum based on infant birth weight in Kediri Regency Hospital.
Birth weight are at risk have a greater risk of asphyxia neonatorum of events. This is due to the level of maturity of the lungs in premature babies, placentas that don't high support on baby with small gestation, and difficulty passing through the pelvis on the baby macrosomnia. Antenatal care services (antenatal care) and preparation for childbirth all resuscitation tools is the right step to prevent death due to asphyxia neonatorum.
